Rafał Ołdziejewski

I am a theoretical physicists working on few- and many-body problems in Condensed Matter in the Theory of Quantum Matter group at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics.

Research interests

-Dipolar interactions in quantum many-body systems.

-Quantum droplets and supersolids in ultracold atoms.

-Solitons in ultracold gases. Indirect excitons in ultra thin Van der Waals materials.

-Tunable interactions in Bose-Fermi mixtures in ultra thin Van der Waals materials.

-Few-body precursor of the Fermi polaron.

-Microscopic models of quantum measurement.

About me

I joined the group in February 2020. Currently, I mainly focus on studying many-body effects in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). In particular, I aim to explore the potential of TMDs as a platform to investigate strongly interacting Bose gases in reduced dimensions and study the crossover from the few- to many-body physics in exciton ensembles.

Before joining the MPQ, I completed my PhD thesis in November 2019 in the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Kazimierz Rzążewski. My dissertation concentrated on studies of dipolar interaction in ultracold atoms. Chiefly, I investigated quantum droplets and the roton excitation as a precursor of supersolidity.

My publications can be found on my arXiv and ORCID profiles.
